The Team
Ferdinando De Matthaeis
General Director
AKA Ferdi (born May 29, 1961) is a retired Italian professional footballer, best known for his time with the New York Cosmos.
A Soccer Hall of Fame inductee, Ferdinando has had a distinguished coaching career since 1999, leading four teams in Italy and twelve in the United States.
Throughout his coaching tenure, he has mentored multiple all-star teams, leveraging his extensive expertise and deep passion for the game.
He has played a pivotal role at Intelisport over the past decade. From 2014 to 2017, he successfully managed three championship-winning teams with Miami Fusion.
Prior to his coaching career, De Matthaeis earned numerous individual accolades as a player, including Top Scorer and MVP honors, and served as the captain of an all-star team.
With his wealth of experience both on the field and from the sidelines, Coach Ferdi has a proven ability to identify athletes for a successful and rewarding soccer career.
Tony Iafrate
Football Advisor
Tony, born on November 8, 1986, in Sora, Italy, holds a degree in Culture for Communication and Sports and Business Management.
He earned a Master’s in Sports and Business Administration in 2012. In 2013, he officially became a FIFA Licensed Player Agent.
With over a decade of experience, Iafrate has held a variety of leadership roles in the sports
industry, including Sporting and Technical Director, General Manager, Operations Manager, and
Team and Brand Business Developer. At this moment, Tony stands as the General Manager of
Miami United FC, driving their vision forward.
Tony’s expertise extends across soccer operations, marketing and communications, event administration, as well as scouting and recruitment. Additionally, he has a strong track record in player care management, club relations, and transfer negotiations.
